Transferring a large volume of files to publishers located all over the world…was becoming a challenge for both production and IT departments. FileCatalyst’s ease of use, self-service, and effortless management helped tremendously.

At a Glance
FileCatalyst Workflow combines two powerful web-based managed file transfer workflows: submission and distribution. Users may submit files to your organization for processing, with full tracking at every stage; or they may securely distribute files to anybody with an email address. Additionally, one or more “file areas” allow users to store files in your organization's private cloud for online access from anywhere in the world.
Submission: Receiving files from external sources is a critical process to many organizations. But if files are sent ad-hoc via email, standard FTP or physical media, they can go missing, with zero tracking or accountability. Adding FileCatalyst Workflow to your web presence gives you the ability to track not only delivery of these files, but their progress through your organization's workflow.
Distribution: Email attachments have size limitations, and other online services don't provide a high level of security and private tracking. Using FileCatalyst Workflow, users may send files of any size to anybody with an email address. The entire process is tracked within FileCatalyst Workflow, allowing users and administrators to see the status of the transfer task as it progresses.
Anything In-Between: There's no reason to limit users to one or the other. With FileCatalyst Workflow's flexible customization model, you may freely collect information and track files through both submission and distribution, from a single job.
Online File Area
FileCatalyst Workflow can provide users with one or more web-accessible file areas. These can be used for personal storage, much like popular web-based file storage systems. They can also be used for sharing and working on files in a group context.
FileCatalyst Workflow comes in two editions—Standard and Enterprise— and has a number of available add-on features. This semi-modular approach allows you to create a custom FileCatalyst Workflow experience for your organization while paying for only the features you need.
- Client Applications: although the web portal is the most common way to interact with FileCatalyst Workflow, other client options allow users to create automated processes or access their file areas directly.
- Security: The web application may be served over HTTPS, and connections to the FileCatalyst Server may be secured with SSL and AES. Authentication via Active Directory or other LDAP implementations provides a wealth of inherent security features, and using LDAP over SSL makes it even more so.
- Customizability: everything the user interacts with can be changed to match your brand and preferences. The look and feel of the web portal and the language used are customizable from the administrator's interface. The Administrator may also create any number of custom forms for collecting information during submission, ensuring that the job is properly processed.
- Flexibility: Support for every major OS and browser. Interoperability with other products in the FileCatalyst Family. Expandable by adding additional FileCatalyst Direct servers, with user account mirroring facilitating a seamless transition.
