FileCatalyst® Technology Stack

FileCatalyst® uses advanced technology to yield exceptionally high throughput, regardless of network conditions. In the end, this results in faster file transfers between remote locations even when there is high network latency or packet loss.

Acceleration is achieved by acknowledging very large portions of data using UDP and retransmitting only data packets that are lost. Data transfer is optimized by compressing on-the-fly and sending only the portions of data that have been modified since the last transfer. End result: substantially smaller files are sent across a highly accelerated connection.

FileCatalyst streamlines workflow by automating the transfer of files through various channels. Bandwidth can be maximized during off-peak hours and maintained at a certain level during business hours. Since FileCatalyst technology is available through a web browser, no installation or configuration is required by the end-user.

FileCatalyst uses a client-server architecture, consisting of a server application, a suite of client side applications, and an SDK. The above illustration shows how the FileCatalyst Server interacts with various clients—from the three FileCatalyst clients to third-party clients developed with the FileCatalyst API.

The backend connections from FileCatalyst server include support for LDAP and Active Directory, enabling easy authorization and authentication of users. FileCatalyst can also interact with external storage devices including ExaStore.

FileCatalyst’s software-based approach provides for rapid deployment with minimal resources. FileCatalyst can easily be installed in less than 30 minutes for fast, interactive collaboration on large data sets. With no special hardware required, FileCatalyst can be remotely configured and managed. Rapid deployment and management allows companies to take full advantage of their bandwidth immediately.
