Simple Web based Administration
FileCatalyst Webmail administration console is completely web based.
There is no need to remember complicated FTP paths or strange Unix commands.
FileCatalyst Webmail will even email your administrative password
if you forget it.
Fine Grained User and Group Permissions
FileCatalyst Webmail supports multiple levels of Administration
accounts. For example, first level support staff may be allowed to do
only basic account management while higher level support personnel can
have more privileges. There is also a Super Administrator that can have
full access to configure and manage the system.
IT administrators can also give specific privileges to user accounts and/or groups. To minimize the administration time, "anonymous" accounts can also be configured. Unlike with traditional FTP servers, "anonymous" accounts in FileCatalyst Webmail are not allowed to access files of other anonymous users.
Automated User Management
FileCatalyst Webmail supports both LDAP and Active Directory so all
account management can be delegated to the directory servers. If directory
server support is not required, users can easily register and provision
accounts without administrator's intervention.
Real time tracking and audit trail
Administrators can track user activity in real time. Every transaction
in FileCatalyst Webmail leaves an audit trail that can be tracked
as far back as the IP address used by the user to access the system. Also
reports can be generated for most active users, most popular file extensions,
etc.
User permissions based on IP
Administrators can configure a set of rules to limit users based on their
IP address.
Example: All users coming from outside the corporate network will only be allowed to send files to email addresses within the corporation.
Example: All "anonymous" users are only allowed to send files to a single email address within the corporation.
These rules can virtually eliminate any possibility of system abuse, while not restricting regular operation to legitimate business users.
Automatic file deletion
File retention has been fully automated in FileCatalyst Webmail.
There is no need to periodically login and delete expired files. The retention
period can be easily set up via the web console. The system also has an
option for a staged deletion, where files are first moved to a recycle
bin folder before being completely deleted from the server.
30 minute Deployment
FileCatalyst Webmail software-only approach allows IT administrators
to download and install the system in less than 30 minutes. Also, since
FileCatalyst Webmail is based on J2EE platform it can be deployed
on any platform, including Windows, Unix, Linux and OSX Server.
Web based access
FileCatalyst Webmail is completely web-based. This means that end-users
don't need to download or install any software on their machines. Any
recent web browser and an internet connection is all that's required.
This also eliminates any network issues which frequently arise when using
FTP, such as Firewall or Proxy servers blocking the data transfers. The
simple yet powerful user interface can be easily customized to match any
corporate look-n-feel.
Desktop application for automation and scheduling
When using a stand alone client application, end users can schedule and
automate repetitive file transfer tasks without any prior knowledge of
batch scripting or other 3rd party FTP tools. All automated transfers
are centrally tracked by FileCatalyst Webmail server. The stand alone
client application (FileCatalyst HotFolder) is included and allows for
unlimited distribution.
Anonymous Accounts
FileCatalyst Webmail offers anonymous file transfers. This means
that one-time users don't need to register to upload or download files,
saving them time and effort. Anonymous accounts can be tightly controlled
by IT Administrators to eliminate any possible abuse.
Multiple File or Directory transfers with one-click
Senders can send many files or folders with one click even from the web.
Using Java Applet technology, FileCatalyst Webmail offers a superior
user experience for transferring files. FileCatalyst Webmail upload
wizard offers reliable, simple-to-use upload functionality. The upload
wizard also offers resume and retry capabilities. The upload wizard is
supported by any recent web browser.
Online file storage
Designated registered users can have their own file storage folder which
can be accessed through the web interface. For further collaboration and
sharing, group folders can also be configured. This feature completely
eliminates the need for other FTP servers.
One-Click Downloads
Recipients can download multiple files with one click. Registration for
downloading is also optional. Senders are notified via email when a recipient
has downloaded all the files.
